The College of William & Mary Foundation
A mission to fulfill.
The College of William & Mary Foundation’s defining and essential mission is to support the College’s deserving people and programs. By seeking private support and then diligently managing the majority of the College’s endowed assets, the Foundation makes possible the work of our students and faculty by providing scholarships, professorships, research and program funding.
Since the Foundation’s formation in 1939, overall growth of its assets — and of the College as a whole — has been considerable. The steady progress in both the Foundation’s assets and the overall consolidated endowment of the College — combined with the successful completion of the Campaign for William & Mary — has ushered in a new era of opportunity for the College.
An independent volunteer board of approximately 40 trustees leads the Foundation and advises staff members on the investment and management of gifts. Particularly influential is the Foundation’s Investments Committee, which oversees the William & Mary Investment Trust (WAMIT).
